Have you ever wondered why Trinity House no longer employ lighthouse keepers? We love this little animation that may go someway to explaining.
Trinity House is a charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers, providing education, support and welfare to the seafaring community with a statutory duty as a General Lighthouse Authority to deliver a reliable, efficient and cost-effective aid to navigation service for the benefit and safety of all mariners.
The last lighthouse to be automated was North Foreland in Kent, the transition from Lighthouse Keepers to automation happened in November 1998.
