Hello, I’m Simon Chapman and I would like to welcome you to Change of Tack, a service to both the commercial and leisure sailing worlds that I formed in 2015.
The aim is to provide a combination of skills as a professional skipper including navigation services, maritime training and good old fashioned hospitality to those looking for something a little bit different.
I’m a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Commercial Yachtmaster (Offshore) and a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor for both sea-based practical and shore-based theory elements of the RYA Cruising Scheme from ‘Start Yachting’ through to ‘RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore’ preparation coaching. More importantly than that, I simply love sailing and encouraging others to share in that experience
My sense of adventure and exploration underpin a core approach to life. I have the knowledge & the means from a wealth of experience to call upon both an extensive technical background & a set of essential soft skills to help you gain the most from sailing in a safe, enjoyable and memorable way.
